Also, the board’s nose is larger than its tail, helping it flow better. It has a camber on the back that allows you to turn effortlessly without any issues. Never Summer has made some unique adjustments to this model. It has a fluorescent design that makes it look really cool. It has a surfy feel to it and flows seamlessly through the ice. The Shaper Twin Snowboard is one of the most versatile freestyle snowboards from Never Summer. Never Summer Snowboards: Shaper Twin Snowboard

The Pro Ultra has an extensive carbon fiber configuration that enables a prompt firm flex response. The snowboard is made of top-quality bamboo, and woods give it the strength and flexibility it has. It gives a smooth snowboarding experience, along with unparalleled edge hold. Designed by Chris Corning, an Olympic snowboarder, the Proto Ultra is lightweight yet powerful. If you’re looking for an ultra-freestyle snowboard that offers power and capability, the Proto Ultra will be the right pick for you. It’s best suited for experienced snowboarders who want to enjoy freestyle snowboarding. So, while it’s stable, it may not be unforgiving. Is this snowboard good for you? Well, the Proto Synthesis is ideal for riding multiple directions and freestyle balance. Overall, you will get a stable and smooth ride with Proto Synthesis. The snowboard has top-notch torsional rigidity and float, along with extra pop. It’s ideal for all types of terrains, from parks to deeps to steeps. One of the most tech-advanced snowboards by Never Summer, the Proto Synthesis is a true beast when it comes to freestyle snowboarding. The snowboard has a power grip sidecut that provides superior hold on the climb. The design, too, is youthful, making it an ideal pick for younger snowboarders. It’s powerful and offers robust pop, float, and grip. And practically speaking, it was pretty good for riding switch, so the feel was there for that.īut yeah, long story short, based on what you’re describing, I think this would be a good choice – just a bit of a stretch to call it a twin. There are several reasons to use the West Bound Splitboard Wide. Typically a directional twin wouldn’t be tapered but would have a slightly longer nose, so this is quite unique in that respect. It’s a little bit of a stretch to call it a directional twin, IMO, but the nose and tail are the same length – so it’s got that. I think the camber profile is also a little directional as well, though I’m only going off Never Summer’s image of it, rather than anything I noticed from it.

And the front insert is around 6mm wider than the back insert. It has a centered stance, but the tail is 10mm narrower than the nose. There’s a healthy amount of taper in this board. Just note that this isn’t a true twin like something like the Proto Synthesis. The Proto Synthesis handles speed just as well as this but not as good in powder as this. This definitely handles speed (3.5/5 for speed by my feel) better than the Funslinger (2.5/5) – and the Terrain Wrecker (3/5), IMO. Handled crud well and was good for weaving through bumpy terrain too. But you could still straight line it to an extent. Felt better to ride it more surfy/slashy, than straight lining it.

Good at speed, without being a full on bomber.

Skidded Turns: Not super easy for skidded turns, but not bad either. More agile at slower speeds vs the Harpoon, but not quite as agile as the Proto Synthesis. Maneuverability at slow speeds: Decently agile at slower speeds. A feel that was a mix between the smoother feel of the Harpoon (which I also rode that day) and the snappier feel of the Proto Synthesis (which I also rode that day). Carving & TurningĬarving: Can lay down a carve on it, but not ultra carvy. It's not something that will be effortless just sitting back and floating in super deep powder, given it's centered stance (though you could set it back) and twin shape, but it's probably the best centered stance twin board I've ridden in powder. Width at Inserts: 274mm (10.8") at front insert and 268mm (10.6") at back insertīindings Used: Burton Malavita M Damp or Chattery?
